A definition wider than a water ship. It includes every construction which is able to float on the water's surface or to stay temporarily under its surface, with its own or an extraneous drive (pushed or hauled) or anchored for good, with one or manyof the following destinations of use:

communication – a pontoon bridge;

storing goods or living – a hulk or a botel;

military – a warship;

recreation – a yacht or a sail ship;

signalisation – a lampship;

technical – a swimming gauntry or a swimming dock;

transporting – not only a ship, but also a barge;

industrial – a platform or a process ship.
