An institution building or renovating waterships, where the most important parts of the ship's hull are constructed, an equipement is assembled (usually constructed in co-operating institutuions), finishing jobs are done and an experimental start-up and launching of the ship is made. Renovating shipyards are additionally equipped with mechanisms for emerging the ship, dry and swimming dockyards, windlasses (so called 'slips') and renovating whrafs; they often engage in producing small ships of special destination (tugboats, yachts etc.). In Poland, seagoing ships are produced in the shipyards in Gdansk, Gdynia and Szczecin. | |
